Taloo is a duck who
always interrupts. His classmates can’t get a word in
edgewise. His siblings and his parents, even his
teacher, struggle with his constant
quack-Quack-QUACKING!
Taloo’s teacher
comes up with a unique and wonderful idea. She sends him to a special school
for hearing impaired ducks. In order for Taloo to learn sign
language from his new friends, he must watch and listen. And that he
does!
Written & illustrated by the Founder of Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary,
and the mother of her own former "interrupting duck,"
this charming children's book teaches youngsters the
importance of listening to what others are saying.
The
38 delightful, full-color illustrations of this engaging
story embrace multi-cultural family and classroom
situations by featuring ducks of many varieties and
colors. In addition, Interrupting Duck introduces
young readers to American Sign Language when Taloo joins
a classroom of hearing-impaired ducks. The artwork is so
detailed that readers will actually enjoy seeing ducks
communicate using American Sign Language.
This
inspiring story teaches children the importance of
listening skills while also encouraging them to embrace
other means of communication. As a special feature, the
book includes a three-page section in the back that
translates all of the signs used in the story.
