Annual Duck-Duck-Goose Blue Ribbon Contest!

It's time for our 2010 Blue Ribbon Photo Contest! This is a fundraising event with two categories:  Most Photogenic and Most Comical. Two beautiful Blue Ribbons will be awarded!

Winners will be chosen by a board of anonymous Judges who will not have access to contestants identities.

Winning photos will be permanently displayed in our upcoming July 2010 Newsletter and on the Winner's Circle page of our website.

About our Blue Ribbons:

We will mail each of our two lucky winners a gorgeous Metallic Blue and Silver, 4 tier, rosette ribbon with three 30 cm long tails and an imprinted Silver "1st" in the center. Now that's something you and your feathered friend can display proudly!

A framed and personalized Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary Winners Certificate will also accompany each Blue Ribbon awarded.

Blue Ribbon Photo Contest Rules:

1) Photos must be of domestic ducks or geese who you have claimed at least partial responsibility for. This includes abandoned ducks and geese, still in the wild, as long as you are helping to care and provide for them on a regular basis. As much as we love wild waterfowl, this contest is to spotlight domestic waterfowl, so no photo entries that feature Canada geese or Mallard ducks please. Please DO enter a photo of your pet Muscovy duck!

"No Mallards?! That doesn't seem right!"

2) Photos may NOT be digitally modified in any way (except for cropping, which is allowable).

3) You may include a caption with your photo, but it must be sent as an attachment, NOT superimposed on the photo itself.

4) Photos entered must be taken within the last 12 months.

5) Amateur photos only may be submitted. No professional or paid photography (unless, of course, you are a professional photographer).

6) Each photo entry must be accompanied by a $5.00 entry donation. This is a fundraising event, after all!

7) Photos for this year's competition will be accepted from April 1, 2010 - June 15, 2010 12:00 midnight. Both photographs and full entry donations must be received between these two dates in order to be officially entered. Photos rec'd without payment will be disqualified. Entry donations are non-refundable.

8) Contestants may enter as many photos of their ducks or geese as they would like and are encouraged to do so!

9) All Contestants grant Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary full discretion to permanently display any photo submissions on our website or in any related and not-for-profit media (we will not sell your photos).

10) Contestants also understand that they will receive no compensation of monetary value in association with this contest.

Warm Weather Fun!

Looking for something fun to do with your geese? Bring home a juicy watermelon and then serve it up for their enjoyment.

Duran Duran enjoy the day's fruits... literally!

Watermelon is a refreshing and healthy snack as well as being a ton of enrichment fun! Most geese will completely demolish this tasty vegetable, leaving little or no evidence behind--except perhaps their happy honks!

For even more fun, plant your own waterfowl friendly garden including watermelon, lettuce, tomatoes and other fun & healthy treats!
