Ducks and Geese Adopted

Here are photos of the ducks and geese that we have placed in permanent homes so far. We love to hear from their new families. If you have updated photos of a duck or goose you have adopted from us, or a story to share about them, please email us, so we can update this page for you.

Deeta arrived at our sanctuary in September of 2015 and was paired off with Eeben. This loving pair lived together for years before Deeta began succumbing to splayed leg issues, which made it more difficult for her to waddle. At that time, we moved her over with our all-female flock for her own safety (and we found a new girl for Eeben to love).

Although Deeta's condition worsened over the years, she could waddle around and get her stuff done nonetheless. She spent her final year paired off with our special needs Cayuga boy Winston. They became fast friends and loved sharing floating treats in their water bowl.

Deeta was loved by all the boys at the sanctuary. She adored fawning over Laddy through a shared fence and was pretty fond of Billy-Cha and all his doting attention too. This little girl had lots of friends!

On June 18th of 2019, Deeta's oviduct prolapsed beyond repair and was sedated and brought to our vet who aided her in a painless journey to the other side. How blessed we were to have her with us these past four years... If only she could've stayed with us a while longer...

Verona and Venice were both starving when they were rescued from a pond where they were abandoned. They were quickly adopted and are now living with their new boyfriend Roman!

Sprout came to us with zero experience in the sunshine--not knowing how to forage for bugs and worms, or basically, how to even be a duck. He was adopted within a week of his arrival and went straight to his new home with Fred & Friends (who renamed him Ottis) where he will have plenty of human love, waterfowl (and parrot) companionship and where he will serve as a great ambassador for pet ducks everywhere!

Jabberwocky was rescued from a pond where he was hungry and exposed to freezing cold temperatures and predators. Yolanda was removed from an unsanitary situation involving overcrowding. She was the only solo goose there, so her owner surrendered her to us, so that she could come here. Upon being introduced Jabberwocky and Yolanda fell madly in LOVE!

Jabberwocky underwent cataract surgery in 2014. Because they do not replace the lens, his distance vision is better than his up-close vision; even so, he can see up-close, it's just blurry. This amazing and friendly pair of geese were adopted to a loving family where they will enjoy their new goose house and a nice pasture in an aviary pen.

Mabel was dumped with a number of other Muscovy ducks. She was underweight and her feathers were in pretty rough shape at first, but she quickly transformed into a real beauty! Unfortunately, our little Mabel-Mabel fell ill the following year and despite vet intervention and all treatment efforts, she passed away and is dearly missed...

Lookout is a very shy, 8 year-old Indian Runner/Buff Orpington/Rouen duck who was the last of her family's flock, who they had for 16 years. After making the decision that they did not want to have ducks anymore, they had to take her needs into mind. Not wanting her to live out the remainder of her life alone, they surrendered her to our sanctuary so she could have ducky friends again.

Lookout was the lookout over her flock of female friends for years and took on a mock-drake role, which includes male plummage! This may change now that she's been adopted into a new home with two Khaki boys and two Pekin girls. She isn't lonely anymore!
