Ducks and Geese Adopted

Here are photos of the ducks and geese that we have placed in permanent homes so far. We love to hear from their new families. If you have updated photos of a duck or goose you have adopted from us, or a story to share about them, please email us, so we can update this page for you.

Ripley was the lone survivor of a hawk attack. She came to our sanctuary in July of 2018. She learned to trust us very quickly and immediately blended into our rescued flock. Ripley was adopted a few months later and is now enjoying her wonderful new life with a flock of beautiful new ducky friends!

Tawny and Zwolf were about to be abandoned on a pond when a neighbor intervened and brought the girls to us. Both of these Runners were adopted and are now living with Ripley, the Coffee Ducks (Bean, Carmella & Hazel), Rowena and Romy--along with a flock of other girls too! Happily ever after...

Marvell was surrendered to us by his family. Ducklings mature quickly and he just as quickly outgrew their home. Raised inside and on human food without other ducks as companions, Marv had a lot to learn about being a duck.

Step one was some quality vet care for this little guy. Even for a duckling, he was small for his age and his feathers weren't as far along as they should have been. He had too much fluff and not enough feathers for his age. Our vet confirmed that he was malnourished, but fortunately, thought a repairative diet of waterfowl feed and vitamin additives would fix him right up (and so far it's working brilliantly!).

As soon as Marv arrived, we thought it best for him to stay with an experienced foster family with two ducks of their own. Their excellent indoor/outdoor set-up would give him time to learn about life outside, while also receiving a high-quality diet and while having other ducks around. It was the perfect temporary solution for this little guy before transitioning him back to our sanctuary. Did we say temporary? This human-imprinted foster duckling actually found himself in a foster-to-adopt situation! Marv was adopted by his foster family and has two ducky brothers now named Dean and Crowley!

Azure is a Blue Indian Runner who was dropped off on a pond. She was lost and scared and running around on shore, trying to find her way home when rescuers quickly discovered her and scooped her up. Azure was only here for a few days before being adopted by her new family who has a whole flock of female runners!

Gilly was found on a pond with a flock of Mallards. She's so little we named her after Gillian Anderson (X-Files) who was known to be so small, she had to stand on boxes to boost her height during filming. Those boxes are still referred to in Hollywood today as "Gilly Boxes."

Gilly was only here for a few days before being adopted by her new forever family who have a little boy named Nan for her to fall in love with!

Shiloh and Hiro are a pair of Khaki Campbell ducks who were dropped off on a river in Norwich, CT. Fortunately, they came right up to us for help when we arrived to rescue them (probably because they were very hungry and saw we had food).

This little pair of ducks are so easy going and LOVE their mealy worm treats in the morning. Shiloh is a huge fan of Neil Diamond and gets SO EXCITED when we sang her song on our way out to her pen.

This lovely little pair of energetic ducks were adopted by a family who are hoping to adopt more females from us in the future to build up their own little duck flock. We love hearing this (and so does Hiro!).

Alyce & Gonzo are two Rouen girls surrendered to our sanctuary when their family had to move. They were adopted by the same family who welcomed Hiro & Shiloh into their home. Happily ever after!

Morty is a Khaki Campbell duck who was about to be dumped onto a pond by his owner when a neighbor intervened and brought him to our sanctuary. Morty is gorgeous boy who found for his new forever home with a loving family and FIVE new Khaki Campbell girlfriends of his own in the sunny state of Florida--Road Trip!

Junebug is a Pekin duck who was dumped on a pond and then rescued by another organization. He was mistaken for a female (what?!) and placed into a home, but when he matured into a full grown boy, he no longer got along well with their other male duck--and, the two boys were too much for their female ducks. When the rescue group was unresponsive about finding him a new and suitable home, they reached out to us. To make sure Junebug received all the love in the world, we went on a roadtrip to Florida to bring him to his amazing new family and his new Rouen buddy Al!
